What is SMTP?

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It is an open-recipient-based protocol, which means that the receiving Message Transfer Agent has to accept all the e-mails sent to it.

How does Webservio's email-hosting work?

When you signup for Webservio's e-mail hosting service, the MX record for your domain will point to our mail server so that all the e-mail sent to your domain is received by our mail server. Once your e-mail arrives to our mail server, you either have the option to read it web based through a browser, or you can download these e-mails using a POP3 client such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.

My email is currently with another hosting provider. Can i use your e-mail service without any interruption in my e-mail service? Do i also have to transfer my domain to you?

Yes, you can transfer your e-mail service to us from your existing provider with no interruption. It is as simple as changing the MX record to point to us. Although we recommend that you transfer your domain to us, it is not necessary.

Our organization has many departments. However, each department may have common users. I would want the ability for certain users to receive e-mails for other departments too. Can Webservio's e-mail hosting handle this?

Yes. This can be done by the use of e-mail aliases. Let’s say you have many employees in your firm, and John needs to receive all e-mails sent to sales@yourfirm.com. John also needs to receive the e-mails going to hr@yourfirm.com. In this case, you would define both sales@yourfirm.com and hr@yourfirm.com and add John as a user for each of them. Similarly, you can add other users based on the department so that they can receive the e-mails.

What happens if your primary mail server goes down? Will i lose my e-mail?

No. Webservio has a mail bagging system (or mail backup) in place. If for some unforeseen reason our primary mail server goes down, then our secondary mail backup server will take effect and bag all the e-mails coming through. Once the primary mail server has been restored, all the e-mails will be relayed to the correct e-mail account.

Does your e-mail hosting come with anti-virus protection ?

We currently offer the anti virus protection as an add-on for just $5.00/month.

Does your email hosting come with anti-spam protection?

We currently offer the anti spam protection as an addon. The price is based on the number of email accounts you want to protect.

Will Webservio's employees have access to my emails?

No. All of your emails are stored in a format that are not readable. We allow very limited access to the servers and therefore your emails are safe.
